Bring the water to a boil and add a pinch of salt, put the rice in water and boil for 10 minutes.  Be sure and use a pot as close to the same size as your portions.  The smaller the amount of air between the food and the lid, the better it will cook.  Leave in the Eco Wonder-Oven for 40 minutes or until you are ready to eat it.

Boiled Eggs

To boil one egg:

  • 1 or 2 Eggs
  • Enough water to cover the Eggs

Bring water to a boil.  Place Egg in Water.

Use the smallest  pan that you can or a plastic bag (see Recipes & Ideas for more information on using a plastic bag).

Put it in the Eco Wonder-Oven for 5 minutes (3 more minutes if you prefer it hard boiled).  To boil 2 eggs, you will need twice as much boiling water, otherwise, proceed that same as above.

Jam

Using as little water as possible, cut up and bring the fruit to a boil in your pot and put the pot in the Wonder-Oven until it is cooked.  Pour the fruit into a larger pot and add an equal volume of sugar.  Boil them up together until the jam is ready to set.  Test for this in the normal way.

Carrot Jam
Carrots can be used instead of fruit to make mock apricot jam.  They should be first cut up and cooked soft with a little water.  Then mash them.  Add an equal volume of sugar and some lemon juice to taste and cook as above.

Bread

Use your favorite recipe for any kind of bread.  Mix up the dough, and let it raise once, (if that is what your recipe calls for), and then after pushing it down the first time, you then put it in a 46 ounce juice can that has been greased.  (I use Pam)  Fill the can about half full and put in a pot of warm water. about 2/3 up the can.  I put two cans in the pan at the same time to get two loaves of bread.  Put the lid on the pan and bring the water to a boil and boil for
10 minutes.  Put immediately into the Wonder-Oven and “bake” for 2 hours.  It comes easily out of the cans, and are nice rounded loaves, about the size of a hamburger bun.  They have no crust, but are the same texture as regular bread.  If you don’t have a can, you can use the bag inside a cereal box. or baking bag, and make sure the bag opening is outside the pan lid, so no water will get inside.  However, the bread will not be nicely formed, will be a sort of a blob.  I like the can method much better.  Can also use “soup cans” to make smaller ones and for muffin mix.

Muffins

Make you favorite Muffin mix, the thicker the better.  Grease 5 small cans (like evaporated milk, pork and bean, or soup cans).  Fill them 2/3 full.  Cover the top of the cans with a piece of tinfoil formed over the top and place a rubber band around it.  Put in a pan and fill water around the cans about 2/3 high.  Put the lid on the pan, and boil for 10 minutes.  Put in the wonder-Oven for 3-4 hours, or more.  Will be hot and good, even if you don’t get them out for 7 hours.

Yogurt

Heat a half gallon of milk on the stove and when it is baby bottle warm, put a cup of yogurt from the  store in it.  You could use a start that you keep for this.  Don’t stir it.  Then put it in the Wonder-Oven and let it sit overnight.  It all turns into yogurt.  You can add jam or other fruit to flavor it.  Or make a gallon and double the yogurt.
